FRANCE
Lacquer cemented its position in international high decorative arts in the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts in Paris in 1925, which spawned the Art Deco movement across the Atlantic through the 1930s. The mesmerising quality of Natural Lacquer over a diverse range of substrate materials gave inspiration to leading designers and artisans then to create decorative objects distinctive with their shimmer and depth. Now, one hundred years later, a French client of ours saw the potential of our furniture to furnish a home imbued with the same charm. What his ancestors did not have the chance to enjoy is the one of a kind synergy of Natural Lacquer with the dignified forms and vibrant wood grains of well-made Ming style Chinese furniture. It is a quiet luxury, on top of soothing the soul, it appeals to the senses of the eyes, the touch, and even the nose.
