The story began in 2001 when a calm and sophisticated gentleman walked into our shop on Hollywood Road. When he left not long afterwards, he had purchased a large set of standard and bespoke furniture to furnish his new office in Beijing.
Turn the clock forward to 2015, he visited us again, this time to our Wong Chuk Hang showroom. After quickly browsing and receiving inspirations, he made a request to us - it was for his new home set within a beautiful tree-lined suburb of Beijing. The timing of his request was interestingly unique among the projects we have handled. His big house has just been completed in its fixed furnishings by his architectural team. Based on the established spacial character and his family’s living pattern he would like us to design and craft furniture for him that not only go well with his vintage or European furniture, but also to yield a space of depth and elegance. We are thankful that our ideas conceived after making an on-site visit were well-received. At the end our bespoke furniture, in carefully-curated and complementary styles, found their way from the entrance foyer to the massive walk-in closet on the third floor. From the photos, if you cannot easily associate a locality or style, we have nailed it. Our intention is to avoid cliches and monotony that are devoid of character and understated quality.
There are some records we broke in the creativity and scale of this residential project, we do not believe they could be easily broken. For that we are deeply thankful up to this day.
Due to the wide array of furniture, we use two articles to cover all of them.

故事始于2001年，一位沉稳而优雅的男士走进我们位于荷李活道的店面。逗留不久之后，他选购了一批家具 - 既有常规款式，也有定制之作 - 用于布置他在北京的新办公室。
时光流转至2015年，他再次造访，这一次来到了我们位于黄竹坑的展厅。在稍为浏览并获得灵感后，他向我们提出了新的委托 - 为他位于北京郊区、绿树成荫之地的一处新居进行家具设计与制作。这次委托的时机在我们过往经手的项目中显得颇为独特。当时，他的大宅已由建筑师和施工团队完成了硬装部分的施工。基于既定的空间基调及其家人的生活习惯，他希望我们设计并打造出一批家具，既能与他原有的古董或欧式家具和谐共融，又能赋予空间深邃而优雅的气质。我们非常高兴，在实地考察后提出的构思得到了客户的认可。最终，我们精心策划并量身定制的家具，从入口门厅一直延伸至三楼宽敞的步入式衣帽间。如果从照片中您无法一眼辨别出其具体地理位置，那说明我们确实做到了 - 我们力求避开那些陈词滥调或单调乏味、缺乏个性，和低調質感欠奉的设计。
在创意构思与住宅项目规模上，我们创下了一些纪录；我们相信，这些纪录恐怕很难被轻易超越。对此，我们至今仍深怀感激。

To slowly carve by hand a relief pictorial pattern is a mighty work in itself. This is made all the more difficult for a refined lacquer finish, which calls for the closing up of the wood pores by repeated cycles of patching, sanding and lacquering processes. These are all executed with extreme care, otherwise the details of the carving will be ruined.
Mass produced products achieve lacquer result over a carved surface quickly by thick coat of chemical lacquer, but it never achieves the warmth and hand feel in a fine finish.

公丈徒手慢慢把木材雕出一个浮雕图案已经不容易。更困难的是需要用上精细的涂漆效果，因为众多变化多端的微小表面都需要经过多重的刮磨，木材气孔填充，打磨，上漆等的工序。所有都需要细心慢作，因为一不小心就会把浮雕破坏。
大规模的工业化生产也可能有经涂漆的浮雕效果，但使用的都是厚厚的化学漆油，让木材表面完全给封闭掉。所以一定不能达到精细的手工温暖真实感觉。
